Manufacturing details of the Marlin Model 336 Zipper
by Scott Crawford - July 30, 2021
- The same build as the model 336 Sporting Carbine (SC) except the chambering and this comes with Micro-Groove rifling.
- Available from: 1955 to 1959
- Cartridges: .219 Zipper
- Notes: It should be noted that the weight listed below is 6-3/4 lbs. The 1956 and later catalogs list the weight as 7-3/4 lbs. This weight difference is because when first manufactured, the barrel's outside dimensions were the same as the caliber .30-30 model 336SC. In 1956, because of marginal accuracy results, the barrel diameter was increased by about 1/10" at the muzzle. This changed the weight by one pound more without any marked improvement in accuracy.
