Ruger CEO Mr. Killoy announced on October 6th, 2021 that this model will be their first Marlin centerfire model to be released from their Mayodan, NC factory in December 2021. One of the changes from the initial Marlin offering to today's Ruger built Marlin will be the absence of the Ballard style rifling to the now available Ruger hammer forged rifling which Ruger offers in all of their Ruger firearms. The barrel is also threaded for a muzzle brake or other attachments and the bolt is spiral-fluted and nickel-plated making the action much smoother.
