Manufacturing details of the Marlin Model 1894P
by Scott Crawford - July 30, 2021
- This is a short barreled Trapper with a factory ported barrel.
- Available from: 2000
- Cartridges: .44 Mag/.44 Spl
- Notes: Although the .44 magnum didn't really require porting, this model received them and was highly collectable. During the timeframe from 1998 - 2002 Marlin also offered factory porting on the 1894CP, 1895G, 1895GS, 1895M, 444P, 512P and the 336D. It was designed to alleviate or reduce muzzle jump, especially when hunting dangerous game in close quarters allowing for a quick secondary shot. More appropriate for the heavy loads in the .444 Marlin, .45-70 & .450 Marlin.
